Someone (? Could it be famous, Tony
Bettenhausen -- champion
of the 500 Indianapolis speedway above in the photo?)
speeds up in his fancy race car (?) to catch up with Jesse Owens to
pass a baton to anchor, Frank Wykoff in a phantom 400 meter relay race
...
Frank Wykoff, blurted out ...
"Hey
this is a great publicity stunt -- but it will never
make the newspapers. All these impersonators want of us 'Old Champions'
today is to hold up plagues, and posters to promote
the Hollywood
type of ... 'wannabes' ..."
Jesse Owens tells Frank
to calm down -- and reminded Frank how he is always allegedly
"misquoted in newspaper" ... and there might still be a real
newspaper photographer around taking notes
who are still a fan of Charley Paddock's philosophy
that ...
"You're
never too old, and that no dream is impossible to achieve..."
Frank then said ..."No
Indy 500 car is ever painted yellow, nor
does it have a bandage on its' tire ... who is this jerk, anyways?"
Owens replied ... "Just another 'wannabe' --
Tony Bettenhausen..."
