What an Athlete

A Tribute to Frank Wykoff
 By John D. Evans

Born in Des Moines, Iowa

Beneath the fall of leaves

Kicking and pushing, a babe,

Frank Wykoff, I see

A world-class athlete

He soon will be

Triple gold medal winner

He’ll make history

He cherished the open land

And chased his dreams, so sweet

He became a local star

And soon could not be beat

He ran all the way to Amsterdam

Setting world records as deemed be

An anchor on USC’s relay team

Nations took notice and rose to see

At one time, the fastest man

This world ever did meet

He made world history

And he kept it clean

A poet of motion we have seen

A friend, he is, indeed

Frank Wykoff

What an athlete
